Although surgery and anesthesia can be scary words, we take many precautions so that they don’t have to be. Porters Neck Veterinary Hospital strives to make your pet’s surgical experience as safe and painless as possible. We perform a large range of surgeries from small mass removals with local blocks to routine dental cleanings to life saving emergency procedures. All major procedures involve intravenous catheterization, intravenous fluids, intra- operative monitoring (blood pressure, heart rate/rhythm, respiratory rate, body temperature, oxygenation/pulse-oximetry), and the use of a warming blanket.
Preanesthetic blood work and preanesthetic ECGs (Electrocardiograms) are recommended for all pets undergoing anesthesia. Your doctor and technician team will discuss these with you prior to your pet’s surgery.
